We had another meeting today with a client. It seems that now that summer is here and everyday we have to undergo a heavy penalty for being humans, walking under 37 degress celsius of city sun… now, in this the most stupid season of all, is when everydoby finds out about us…
Anyway, the meeting went fine and we were ordered two new CD-ROM presentations and a website.
On my way home I took a quick look at the cats that live behind our house… one of them came running towards me. A tiny little white cat with a stripey tail, spots on her head a big, oval, black spot on her left side. The rest is history, her name is Scully.
We are now on cat number four, all females and all hating each other :) Well… we’re trying to get at least one of the older ones to take interest in Scully.
So I’ve been married for a year. What’s it like? It’s like being alive, waking up everyday, walking around and doing what you normally do. Do I like it? Heck yeah!
What? You think I’m stupid? Would I actually marry someone I didn’t enjoy? Yes, yes, I know there are plenty of people out there who get married to “the wrong person”, but I like to think I have more than two brain cells in my head.
Marriage is not a simple thing, but neither is life or managing to feed three or more cats at the same time. People who get married almost always suffer from the same problem: they know who they’re marrying, but they’ve never actually lived with the person before. And there’s much to be said about living with someone.
My first advice for married people is to talk to other married people. As soon as you realize that the things that annoy you are exactly the same things that annoy your friends, you’ve got it. It’s simple, it’s like when you want to play the guitar you have to ignore the pain in your fingers, you want to learn how to swim, then you’ll have to learn how to exhale under water.
You want to be married? Then you’ll have to get used to the fact that when a woman says: “I’m almost ready”, it actually means: “I’m starting my make up now, it should take about one and a half hours”. When you say “you look fine in that dress”, she actually hears “you’re fatter, don’t get delusional, take that rag off” (which sometimes, might be what you’re actually trying to say). Many people turn these simple situations in to terrible fights, which inevitably end in “you don’t love me” or “I’m leaving you”, or both… and then truly culminate in some sort of making up.
It’s tiring, emotionally exhausting and no fun at all. So a piece of advice, even though, I know, I’ve only been married a year: don’t do it.
On the other hand if you don’t want to get married: DON’T!
Do the world a favor and stay single… heck, we don’t want your offspring running around the streets ANYWAY! Of course you can have children without being married, obviously… but just don’t anyway, OK? Unless you really have something in your DNA worth while leaving to the world like I do. :)
So here I am, married for a year… I feel good, must be the weather, it’s nice and breezy.
I went to see the Matrix today. Two hours and 25 minutes of pure joy. This film is almost like a comic book come to life. There are super-heros, kung-fu fighting, lot’s of shooting and a deep emotionally disturbed hero :)
If you like sci-fi, if you like kung-fu and if you like comic books like me, you’ll simply love The Matrix. The film is jam packed with great special FX, which don’t really take over the action, action which doesn’t really take over the story and a story which doesn’t really get in the way of a lot of shooting.
There aren’t many explosions, which is nice, because I’m really tired of those. There are plenty of guns and shooting, though… but there’s also a subtle sense of humour toward the shooting scenes themselves as well as throughout the entire movie. Meaning, it does not take itself too serious while keeping it serious enough not to become ridiculous.
This is by far the best movie I’ve seen in months. But don’t go see it if you’re a pseudo-intellectual or something, it ain’t worth it… you gotta enjoy having FUN! That’s what this movie is all about. Fun. It’s not deep, in the end only love saves the day, it’s corny enough but the settings, the characters, the story are just my cup of tea. It’s a comic book, pure and simple. I loved it.
Later on the day we had a presentation of the finalized CD-ROM presentation we’ve been working on… yes, we had a presentation on sunday, went to the client’s house and all.. anyway it went perfectly, the guy loved it so much he’s ordering two more CDs for September.
It’s 6:19, and I’m not up early… in fact I haven’t been to bed yet. It’s the fourth time this week that I don’t sleep in order to work. There is a high level of anxiety involved in the proccess.
As the clock moves merciless towards 6:00 a.m. I go into desperation, I twitch, I feel like crying out… I’m so exhausted I can barely sit straight, all my muscles hurt and my efficiency level is down 95%. I hate working like this, it’s the exact opposite of what work should be.
Now the animations are redone, but unfortunantely I have to upload them, and unfortunantely I have a crappy 28.8 connection which will take almost one and a half hour to upload 12 megs. So now I’m looking at the time, it’s 6:23, I know it’s all done and I could go to sleep, but I’m going to have to stay here until around 8.
In the morning we went to meet the client and show him the work and have him ask for 435 changes in it. I was exhausted and could barely move.
My wife went to to meet up with me and then we shopped around for a while, I bought a new black coat which fits really nicely on me. :)
At night we went to my aunt’s and had dinner there. Later we went to see “An Ideal Husband”, which is not really my kind of film… I haven’t much patience for long dresses, old furniture, gossip and tapestries. However it was humorous, the actors were fine and the simple storyline didn’t make me fall asleep as I feared, not out of boredom, but of sheer exhaustion.
I also found a drum kit with a bass drum, hi-hat, cymbal, two toms plus a floor tom for a mere 389 Euro… that’s what I call cheap! It’s a Power Beat drum kit… I’m thinking abut getting one, but I can’t afford it, even though it’s a bargain.
